What is a DARS?

Hi #transfers!! There have been lots of questions about the DARS lately, what it is, why to look at it, what can be found on it, etc. So, here are some answers to some frequently asked questions about DARS! Yay!

What is DARS?

  • DARS is an acronym for Degree Audit Report. It is a progress report basically, that can help you track your progress toward your degree. 🥳

Where can the DARS be found?

  1. On your myUCLA page click on Academics – Academic Profile – Degree/Progress Audit Report

  2. Then click on “Continue to DARS” then you press “Run Audit” then “View Audit”

Whats in a DARS?

  • The DARS has a whirlwind of information.

  • It contains information such as your GPA, amount of units you transferred in with, amount of units you need to graduate, IGETC certification information, requirements for your major.

  • You can use DARS to track your progress, check requirements for your major or minor and more.

  • It is also a great tool to use when you want to go see an academic counselor. You should probably try to see an academic advisor and/or a departmental advisor each quarter (or as needed), particular if you are thinking of taking on a minor, double major, etc.

Hold Up! Hold Up! How come my classes aren't in the system? 😔

NEW TRANSFERS: It takes some time for UCLA to update your DARS, so don’t worry if there is some information missing, there can be mistakes, it just takes a while for the system to update all the new information it is getting for the new students!! So at orientation, just double check with your advisor if there are any issues or concerns you may have with it. Or check in with an academic counselor during your first quarter.
