Student Sarah Thomas transferred from College of the Canyons and is currently majoring in Communications.
As a first-generation and non-traditional student, Sarah shares her unique experience transferring into UCLA.
Sarah: "As a Southern California native, UCLA was the dream school since childhood. I applied and was accepted to the other UC's, but it was always going to be UCLA. Going to community college gave me a second chance to turn my life around and transition from being a lackluster high school student, into a community college honors student who graduated with the highest honors possible. Higher education is important to me because as a non-traditional transfer (who has a decent amount of work experience), I know first hand that there are limits to how high you can rise without a solid education or degree. Higher education is important because "good enough" is not good enough."
Thank you Sarah! Your dedication to turn around your life is inspiring!
